Pretty & Polished Preview & Review

Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long since posts but I've been extremely busy with school this semester on top of not having internet still.  Once I have some time, I have a few posts I need to write up over a few hauls and the new Fall Beauty Voxbox from Influenster.  As well as my FIRST Glam Bag from Ipsy (formerly MyGlam).  That one will more than likely be on a post with the next Glam bag coming in.

Today I bring you 3 polish previews coming soon from Pretty & Polished.

First off, we have "Pretty as a Peacock".  It's a dark green glitter polish with green shimmer like base as well as purple and teal/blue hex glitters in varying sizes.  It truly resembles the colors of a peacock feather.

This one is my favorite, especially over black.  Here you see on with 3 coats alone (index and ring) and 1 coat over black (middle and pinky). Please excuse the side of my thumb.. didn't even notice until I went to watermark the photos :(

Second, we have "S'no Mans Land", which is another glitter polish in a milky white base.  It has shimmery/holo micro glitter as well white hex glitters and different sizes.

In both pictures you see 3 coats of the polish alone and applying the large hex glitters was really tough for me.  I don't know how other people manage it but for me, personally, it irritates me.  If you have any tips on applying large hex glitters, feel free to leave a comment :)

Last but certainly not least, we have "It Get's Better".  It is another glitter polish with a light green base.  It has small hex glitters in an assortment of colors.  What's so special about this polish is that 50% of the profit from sales of this polish will be donated to the It Gets Better Project.

3 coats of It Get's Better alone.

Below is an insert from the It Gets Better Project's website about what they are about:
Growing up isn’t easy. Many young people face daily tormenting and bullying, leading them to feel like they have nowhere to turn. This is especially true for LGBT kids and teens, who often hide their sexuality for fear of bullying. Without other openly gay adults and mentors in their lives, they can't imagine what their future may hold. In many instances, gay and lesbian adolescents are taunted — even tortured — simply for being themselves.
While many of these teens couldn’t see a positive future for themselves, we can. The It Gets Better Project was created to show young LGBT people the levels of happiness, potential, and positivity their lives will reach – if they can just get through their teen years. The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it WILL get better.

2012 Summer Beauty Voxbox: UPDATED

Photobucket

It's here!!! My Summer Beauty Voxbox from Influenster came Friday and I'm excited to try these products.  This is my first Voxbox and I never heard of the company before until someone mentioned them in a group I'm in, so I decided to give them a try. The following products were in the box:

Photobucket

Shampoo/Conditioner from Clear - I've never heard of this company before.

Sally Hansen Cuticle and hand cream - I love love love this! I have never really liked a Sally Hansen product before but this cream made my hands so smooth.  The smell wasn't something I liked but that's ok.  I'm sure I'll be buying a full bottle of this when I can.

Quaker Banana Nut Bread - MUST go and get a box of these! You have no idea how good this is and how much I love these.  I'm not a breakfast person because I have such a sensitive stomach that most things I eat in the mornings make my stomach upset. BUT these didn't! That's one of the reasons I like it.  It was delicious and I love the crunch of the nuts on it.  It tasted very much like Banana and had a few pieces of real banana in it.

Hawaiian Tropic Sun Tan Lotion - I used this on my niece this summer because I rarely go out but she loves to go out and swim.  The application was great and the smell was also very nice.

Sally Hansen Magnetic Polish - I'll have a full review of these once I get around to actually putting this on again.  I'm not a huge fan let's just say that.

An assortment of feminine products from Always - Always is my go to brand for feminine products but the things that came in the box are things I can't use.  Not a thin pad or tampon girl.

I've tried the magnetic polish and I'll be getting a review up of that in a few weeks. Everything in the box ranges from $3.30 to $10.00.

Disclaimer: I  received this Voxbox complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster

New Polish Buys

Went into Sally's today on my way back and picked up Orly Sterling Silver Rose on clearance for $2.69. I also FINALLY picked up a bottle of Seche Vite top coat. It was about time. My Sally Hansen top coat is getting thick, gloopy and causing a lot of bubbles.
I bought the Black Shatter and the Orly mini from a girl in a nail group I'm in. There aren't many opportunities where I can find OPI here.

L-R: Orly Sterling Silver Rose, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat, OPI Black Shatter, Orly mini Pure Porcelain
Sorry for the long hiatus.  I haven't had money to buy any polish that I've been wanting and had no internet to blog.  I recently made an order to e.l.f. for some of their nail polishes so look forward to a post when I receive those and more posts after of swatches.

Today's Walmart Haul

Today I had to run to Wal-mart for a few groceries and to look for a good gold polish.  I've been lemming for one for a while now.  I saw no golds from Sally Hansen and the Nicole by OPI gold (CEO) from the Kardashian line looked nice but it was $7.00.  Being a student I'm on a budget so I won't spend alot on polish right now. Then I ran across a Revlon gold but it was dull and looked bland.  Then I happened to come across these.  Saw the gold and knew I had to have it.  I saw they had some effect polishes out so I grabbed two of those, all the while not knowing the prices of these since there were no prices out on the display.  These were only $2.97 a piece.  Next time I go I'll try to take a picture of the display since I can't remember how many colors they had out but there weren't many.

Below are swatches of the 3 I bought.
Maybelline Silver Stunner, Bold Gold and Carbon Frost

First Water Marble Experience

So yesterday I decided to try my hand at water marbling since a bunch of girls in the nail polish group I am in were making a day of it and I said "hey why not". I've been interested in doing a mani like this for a very long time. I tried it twice. The first time I didn't like it but my second attempt was much better.

First Attempt

Second attempt.

Finally! My Haul post from back in September

Finally I post my Haul from back in September! I do believe I bought this the week before my Cousin's wedding. I bought all of the OPI the Friday before the wedding at the mall while I was there. I have used all of these and the only one I don't like is Pros & Bronze that came with Love is a Racket.

This Haul includes:
  • OPI Skull and Glossbones, White Shatter, Serena Glam Slam Duo (Love is a Racket & Pros & Bronze
  • Orly Dazzly (love love love this one. I somehow have included it everytime I have done my nails)
  • Essie All-in-one base
  • China Glaze Re-Freshmint (my biggest lemming)
